Educational and Developmental Psychologist
Edita (she/her) is an experienced Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Accredited EMDR Practitioner. Over the last decade, Edita has worked in the public mental health sector, primary and secondary schools and private practice.
Edita enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults. She typically applies principles of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), arts therapy, mindfulness, play therapy and family therapy. Edita has a special interest in supporting young people experiencing a range of difficulties, ranging from trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, bullying to explosive behaviour.
Edita works from a neurodiversity affirming framework recognising the importance of valuing differences in how our brains work. Edita recognises that early support from a therapist can lead to long lasting changes in child’s life. Edita is passionate about helping children (and their families) achieve their best in terms of mental health and emotional well-being, and also creating supportive social networks. She feels strong about building positive partnerships between a child and their family, school and wider community, to ensure best outcomes.
When not working, Edita is typically out and about with her family, exploring the beautiful nature and wildlife that you can find in Melbourne and surrounds. And if somehow miraculously she has time in the future, she would like to spend it painting or reading books next to a fireplace.
