Nicholas Yap

Nicholas (he/him) is a registered psychologist and EMDR therapist who has worked with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and settings. Nicholas has experience treating presentations such as depressive disorders, grief and loss, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, substance addiction, bipolar disorder, adult ADHD, and complex trauma. Nicholas is particularly dedicated and committed to supporting individuals that have been impacted by the stigma of seeking psychological support. Nicholas adopts a contemplative, practical and collaborative approach that that is responsive to his clients’ needs, aiming to identify core issues and developing more adaptive, resilient patterns to better manage their distress.

To this end, Nicholas uses a combination of CBT, EMDR, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy in treatment. Nicholas also understands that a strong therapeutic alliance is key towards long-term recovery and is dedicated to creating a partnership based on mutual trust, empathy, and compassion. Nicholas is a quiet achiever and along with his thoroughness, he supports his clients towards positive change.

Outside of work, Nicholas has interests in boxing, scuba diving, watching movies, and constantly discovering new and exciting food experiences.
